One step above a micro (the owner considers it an alehouse), this features the usual industrial wood furnishing with a little bar at the back. 5 handpumps had a good mix of mainly local brews, including a couple from Drone Valley, with a few keg taps also. There are pavement tables outside. Very friendly and a good atmosphere.

Overlooking the marketplace, this is a decent bar that probably pre-dates the micropub era, but is remarkably similar in its characteristics. I remember this being one of the better pubs in Doncaster the last time I was here. Since then, the original owners have passed away. But the new guy in charge is continuing the good work and the beers we had were all good quality.
The 5 ales on were Jolly Sailor Selby In Summer, Great Newsome Tortoiseshell, Gorilla Silverback Blonde & Stoutrageous & Drone Valley Dronny Bottom Bitter. There was no real cider that I could see.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Marketplace
Calls itself an 'alehouse & deli' rather than a micro-pub, but each description is reasonably applicable. It features a narrow rectangular bar with a compact counter at the far end, with about the same amount of seating again outdoors the eponymous plaza. A good selection of five real ales on handpump, mostly from Yorkshire breweries, including Bradfield and Welbeck Abbey and Jolly Sailor, but I went for the Team to Remember from Old Mill (£3.60).
